Hektoen International publishes literary and visual works that explore the intersection of culture and health.

We welcome pieces that incorporate art, history, literature, or ethics in relation to health and medicine. We also welcome personal essays that reflect experiences as a patient, professional, or caregiver. In addition to a yearly essay contest, we publish new work on our website on a rolling basis.

Please explore the “Hektorama” section of our website for the categories of work that we publish. Essays should generally be 3,000 words or less.
