In a surprising move for a magazine that does not typically showcase fiction, the New York Times Magazine published a story by Dave Eggers [2] this weekend.

GalleyCat reminds us if the federal government shuts down due to stalled congressional negotiations, the Library of Congress and its website will shut down [2] as well.

Beginning in November, David Rosenbaum will head the University of Missouri Press [3].

Carolyn Kellogg reports Apple is developing a technology for embedding signatures using an “iBook autographing system [4],” which would allow authors to sign e-books at public events. (Los Angeles Times)

John Dorsey of the Toledo Free Press ponders if the venerable Evergreen Review will shutter [5]. The literary magazine was created by Grove Press founder Barney Rosset, who died in February 2012.
