Canary is a magazine of poetry, fiction, and essays, which address the environmental crisis with its heartbreaking loss of habitat and species. The magazine is based on the premise that the literary arts can provide an understanding that humans are part of an integrated system.

Occasionally, we announce a temporary submissions closure in order to clear up a backlog. Please check our Submissions page.  Previously published works are fine. Please include attribution. Please read the current issue before submitting.

Unfortunately, we are unable to use poetry with unusual formatting, as it is difficult or even impossible to set using our web program.
