Poetry embraces the “open-door policy” set forth by founding editor Harriet Monroe. Poetry desires to print, as Monroe put it, “the best English verse which is being written today, regardless of where, by whom, or under what theory of art it is written.”

Submissions should be limited to four poems or less totaling no more than ten pages. All manuscripts must be accompanied by a SASE. We cannot consider anything that has been previously published or accepted for publication, anywhere, in any form, either in the United States or abroad. We encourage you to examine the magazine before making submissions.
