True Magazine publishes essays and writing on the craft of nonfiction in its many forms, as well as reviews, interviews, and criticism. The editors are especially interested in the intersection of reporting and narrative; how nonfiction is and isn’t different from other genres; how true stories can be made compelling; and explorations of highly reflective, emotional, and layered work that exposes a truth about shared experiences in an exulting and punishing world.

True is a home for essays about craft nonfiction. We’re looking for essays, book reviews, and interviews about how compelling nonfiction comes to be. Pitch us your idea at editors@truemag.org [3] or submit your piece via Submittable when we're open—we’re guaranteed to respond and follow up with questions.
