Oxford Poetry is the oldest dedicated poetry magazine in the U.K., and one of the oldest in the world. Previous editors have included Kingsley Amis, W. H. Auden, Vera Brittain, Cecil Day-Lewis, Geoffrey Hill, Aldous Huxley, Louis MacNeice, Siegfried Sassoon, Dorothy L. Sayers, and Stephen Spender. They accept submissions of lyrical essays, poetry-related reviews, and articles with a literary focus. They publish work by emerging as well as established writers. Their issues are not themed beyond focusing on poetry.

Our reading window for poetry is open twice a year through our Submittable page. We cannot accept unsolicited poetry submissions by e-mail, but if you would like to write a review, essay, or article, please e-mail the editors with a pitch at any time. The prose pieces we publish are generally between 1,500 and 3,000 words in length, but there are no strict limits. Visit our website for full submission guidelines and more information.
