The Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Educational Center at Arkansas State University offers a monthlong residency in June to poets, fiction writers, creative nonfiction writers, and translators in Piggott, Arkansas. Residents are provided with a loft apartment on the downtown square in Piggott, a $1,000 stipend to help cover food and transportation costs, and the opportunity to write in the studio where Ernest Hemingway worked on A Farewell to Arms in 1928. The writer-in-residence will serve as a mentor, typically leading an hourlong workshop in the mornings, a peer review session in the afternoons, and occasional office hours for eight to ten writers in a weeklong retreat at the education center. The resident may also be asked to hold one or two readings in the region. Writers with an MA or MFA in a relevant field are preferred. To apply, writers submitted a writing sample of approximately 20 pages, a curriculum vitae, and a cover letter via e-mail by February 28. There is no application fee.
