Bio: 

Lily Greenberg is a writer from Nashville, Tennessee and the author of In the Shape of a Woman (Broadstone Books 2022).

Lily’s work has appeared in On the Seawall, About Place Journal, LEON Literary Review, Hobart, and Kissing Dynamite Poetry, among others. She is the recipient of the 2021 Dick Shea Memorial Prize, judged by Jennifer Millitello, as well as the 2021 Dawkins Prize for Best MFA Poetry Manuscript. Her poem, “Conversations With My Mother That Won’t Happen and Won’t Stop” was nominated for Best of the Net in 2021. Lily’s poetry has received support from Bread Loaf Writer’s Conference, Maine Writers and Publishers Alliance, and the University of New Hampshire.

Lily’s professional career has involved content and technical writing for universities, academics, nonprofits, and small businesses. Her specialties include grant writing and coordination, content strategy for websites and communications, and poetry workshop facilitation.

Lily completed her MFA at the University of New Hampshire (UNH) in 2021, where she served as Graduate Assistant in Communications for the UNH Graduate School and Editor for the Research Development Office. She also served as Editor-in-Chief of Barnstorm Journal from 2019-2021. She has designed and led poetry workshops for the North Country Young Writer’s Festival and New Hampshire Poet Laureate Program, as well as assistant taught poetry courses at the University of New Hampshire and Gordon College. Following graduate school, Lily spent a year in Portland, Maine where she directed communications for an addiction recovery nonprofit and organized poetry readings in the city of Portland.

Lily lives in Nyack, New York with her partner where she serves as Grants Coordinator for Columbia University, Advisory Committee Member of Slapering Hol Press, and poetry reader for Longleaf Review.
