Bio: 

Betsy Mars is a prize-winning poet, photographer, and assistant editor at Gyroscope Review. Her poetry has been published in numerous journals and anthologies. Her poems can be found in ONE ART, MacQueen’s Quinterly, Sheila-Na-Gig, Sky Island, Quartet, and Autumn Sky. Her photos have appeared online and in print, including one which was a Rattle Ekphrastic Challenge prompt in 2019. Her work has been twice nominated for the Pushcart Prize and Best of the Net. She has two books, Alinea, and her most recent, co-written with Alan Walowitz, In the Muddle of the Night. In addition, she also occasionally collaborates with San Diego artist Judith Christensen, most recently on an installation entitled “Mapping Our Future Selves.” She has a BA in Psychology as well as a divisional major in Humanities with an emphasis in English from USC, as well as an MA in Communications Management through the Annenberg School of Communications at USC. Her full-length book, Rue Obscure, will be published in 2026 by Sheila-Na-Gig Editions.
