Bio: 

L.R. Berger has been the grateful recipient of fellowships and awards for her poetry from the National Endowment for the Arts, the PEN New England Discovery Award, the NH State Council on the Arts, MacDowell, the Blue Mountain Center, Hedgebrook and was Visiting Artist at The American Academy in Rome.  Her collection of poems, "The Unexpected Aviary," received the Jane Kenyon Award for Outstanding Book of Poetry.  Supported by a grant from the NH Audobon Society and Blue Mountain Center she lived and wrote in residence at Rachel Carson’s home in Southport, Maine which inspired a sequence of poems and an essay on Carson for the Eco-Philosophical Primer, “In Praise of Nature.”   With the late Palestinian artist and writer, Kamal Boullatta, she assisted in the translation from the Arabic of "Beginnings," by Adonis (Pyramid Atlantic Press). L.R. taught creative writing at the University of Massachusetts in Boston for 15 years, and also taught for 10 years at New England College.  Her new collection of poems, Indebted to Wind" was published August 2021 by Deerbrook Editions.
