Bio: 

Carole Bernstein is the author of two full-length poetry collections, Buried Alive: A To-Do List (Hanging Loose Press, 2019) and Familiar (Hanging Loose Press, 1997). She is also the author of the chapbook And Stepped Away From the Circle (Sow’s Ear Press, 1995) which won the 1994 Sow’s Ear Chapbook Competition.

 

Bernstein’s poems have appeared in many magazines including Antioch Review, Apiary, Bridges, Button Jar, Chelsea, Hanging Loose, Light, Paterson Literary Review, Poetry, Shenandoah, The F-Word, and Yale Review. Her work has been included in the anthologies The Laurel Hill Poetry Anthology: 175 Years of Reflection (Laurel Hill, 2010), American Poetry: The Next Generation (Carnegie Mellon University Press, 2000), The Philomathean Society Anthology in Honor of Daniel Hoffman (Philomathean Society, 1996), and Unsettling America (Viking, 1994).

 

Bernstein is one of the original members of Suppose an Eyes, the Philadelphia poetry group based at the Kelly Writers House of the University of Pennsylvania. She lives in Philadelphia and works as a freelance writer and marketing consultant.
