Bio: 

Andrew Binks is a graduate of the University of British Columbia's Master of Fine Arts Program in Creative Writing. His first novel, The Summer Between ("a shimmering debut" - Shelagh Rogers), was published in May 2009 by Nightwood Editions. His second novel, STRIP ("a potent and thematically sophisticated coming-of-age story" - Quill and Quire) was published by Nightwood in the fall of 2013. Excerpts of his longer works have been published in Joyland.ca and Harvard Square Editions anthology Voice from the Planet (U.S.). His shorter work has been published in The Globe and Mail, Prism International, Prairie Fire (non-fiction 2nd place), This Magazine (Great Canadian Literary Hunt), Galleon, Fugue, Bent Magazine, Harrington Gay Men's Literary Quarterly (U.S.) among others. He is a past honourable mention of the Writer's Union of Canada's short prose contest.

While at UBC he ghost-wrote a screenplay for Keypics, worked for Howe Sound Films (Linda Svendsen), and as a TA in the department of Film, Theatre and Creative Writing.

Two of his plays have received public workshops in Vancouver and Toronto, and he has been a contributing writer to the Sounding Ground audio plays for The Festival Players of Prince Edward County.

In 2008 Andrew spoke on multi genre programs at the Association of Writers and Writing Programs (AWP) in New York City. Andrew has worked professionally as an actor (Stratford), dancer (RWB), model (Paris, Japan, Canada) and educator. He currently teaches workshops on various aspects of writing as well and the process of getting published.
