Bio: 

Sam Simas is a Rhode Island based writer, librarian, and editor. His fiction or creative non-fiction is forthcoming or has appeared in Copper Nickel, Carve, Foglifter, F(r)iction, Sycamore Review, Breakwater Review, Waccamaw, Flint Hills Review, and other journals. His work has won Copper Nickel Editor’s Prize for prose, CRAFT Literary’s First Chapters Contest, runner-up in the Breakwater Fiction Contest, and has been nominated for the ‘Best of the Net Anthology’ and the Pushcart Prize. Sam holds both an MLIS degree and an MA in English Literature from the University of Rhode Island where he completed a collection of short stories titled The Men that Sleep Built. He received the Beatrice S. Demers Fellowship to study at L’Université de Rennes 2, in France, and has interned with Grub Street (Boston), The Ocean State Review, and Barrow Street Press. Sam is currently a reviewer for the Journal of Creative Writing Studies and a Library Advisory Board member for Rowman & Littlefield. He works as the Head of Information Services at Providence Public Library and teaches writing at Bryant University.
