Bio: 

Sue Owens Wright is an award-winning author of both fiction and nonfiction. She is a twelve-time nominee for the prestigious Maxwell, awarded annually by the Dog Writers Association of America (DWAA) to the best writer on the subject of dogs. She has won the Maxwell Award three times and also earned special recognition from the Humane Society of the United States for her writing on animal welfare issues. She writes the acclaimed Beanie and Cruiser Mystery Series for dog lovers, which includes the following novels: Howling Bloody Murder, Sirius About Murder, Embarking On Murder, Braced For Murder, and Ears for Murder, which won the Maxwell Award for Fiction in 2018. The Library Journal rated her first novel, Howling Bloody Murder, a Top Ten Bestseller, and Braced for Murder is recommended on the American Kennel Club’s list of best dog books. Her nonfiction books include What’s Your Dog’s IQ?, 150 Activities for Bored Dogs, and People’s Guide to Pets. She has written hundreds of articles for magazines, including Dog Fancy, Mystery Scene, AKC GAZETTE, Fido Friendly, The Bark, and Animal Fair and has been written about in some of them. Her newspaper column, Pets & Their People, was a Maxwell winner in 2007 and was nominated many times for the award. Sue’s essays have been included in several anthologies, including PEN Oakland’s “Fightin’ Words--25 years of Provocative Poetry and Prose from the ‘Blue Collar’ PEN,” in which she’s proud to be published with Norman Mailer, Kitty Kelley and many other literary notables.
