Dennis Maulsby is a retired bank president and military veteran living in Ames, Iowa. His poems and short stories have appeared in numerous literary magazines and on National Public Radio. His book of war poetry, Near Death/Near Life, and a book of short stories, Free Fire Zone, both published by Prolific Press, won a Gold Medal Award and a Silver Medal, respectively, from the Military Writers Society of America (MWSA). His short story book, Winterset, released in 2019 by NeoLeaf Press, won a Global Ebook Gold Medal and was a finalist in the American Fiction Awards and the Eric Hoffer Awards. His first novel, The House de Gracie, the recipient of a Book Excellence Award and a Reader Views Silver Medal, was released by NeoLeaf Press in March 2020.
