Bio: 

JoeAnn Hart is the author of the novel Arroyo Circle, (Green Writers Press, October 2024) where hoarding and homelessness are depicted through the dark marriage of environmental degradation and rampant capitalism. . Her collection of short fiction, Highwire Act & Other Tales of Survival, won the 2022 Hudson Prize and was published by Black Lawrence Press in September 2023. Her crime memoir is Stamford ’76: A True Story of Murder, Corruption, Race, and Feminism in the 1970s (University of Iowa Press, 2019). Her novels are Float (Ashland Creek Press) a dark comedy about plastics in the ocean, and Addled (Little, Brown) a social satire. Addled was the PEN New England Discovery Award in Fiction in 2004, and Float was presented at the International Literature Festival Berlin in 2017. Her short fiction and essays have appeared in a wide range of literary publications, including The Common, Slate.com, the anthology Among Animals 3, the anthology Fire & Water: Stories From the Anthropocene, Orion, The Hopper, Prairie Schooner, The Sonora Review, Terrain.org, the anthology Black Lives Have Always Mattered, and others. Her work, which also includes photography and drama, often explores the relationship between humans, their environments, and non-human creatures.
