Bio: 

I am the author of four books: COLLATERAL DAMAGE (Standing Stone Books, 2012) is three linked novellas exploring the long-term effects of the Vietnam War. It was a finalist for the Flannery O'Connor Award for Short Fiction and won the 2013 bronze medal for literary fiction from the Independent Publisher Book Awards. SEA, SKY, ISLANDS (Noontime Books, 2019) is a chapbook of three stories about life in the San Juan Islands, with illustrations by painter Marsha Karr. I have also published numerous stories, most recently in CALYX, Winter/Spring 2019.  My Ellie Kent mystery series has two titles to date: UNDER AN ENGLISH HEAVEN (Cozy Cat Press, 2014) received the 2016 Mystery and Mayhem Grand Prize for best mystery. Book two is WHAT CHILD IS THIS? (Cozy Cat Press, 2017; and book three is expected in late 2019.  I have taught writing for UC Berkeley Extension, the University of New Hampshire and the American School of Paris, and I enjoy giving workshops and readings. I am currently the President of the Puget Sound chapter of Sisters in Crime and a member of the Mystery Writers of America, Crime Writers Association (UK), Society for Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, and PEN America.
