Bio:

My short fiction collection, Success: Stories received the Washington Writers’ Publishing House fiction prize. Caroline Leavitt called it a “brilliant” collection that “unpeels the lives and loves of ordinary people to reveal nuggets of extraordinary truths...Deceptively spare and absolutely unforgettable.” My stories have appeared in Barrelhouse, Potomac Review, Gargoyle, Jabberwock Review, Oxford American, Washington City Paper, and anthologies. My articles appear in The Washington Post, Washingtonian, and Smithsonian; nonfiction books include Soul of a People (Wiley), named among Best Books of 2009 and a People’s Choice Award Finalist from the Library of Virginia, and Ginseng, the Divine Root (Algonquin). My latest book is Cork Wars: Intrigue and Industry in World War II (Johns Hopkins) and I'm a writer-producer with the podcast, The People's Recorder. I teach at The Writer’s Center in Bethesda, MD and the M.A. in Science Writing Program at Johns Hopkins University. I live in Washington, DC. @dataylor1
