Bio:

Andrea Witzke Slot is a London-based poet, essayist and fiction writer. She is author of two poetry collections: To find a new beauty (Gold Wake Press 2012), a poetry collection inspired by HD's Sea Garden poems and a top ten bestseller on two Amazon lists, and the newly released The Ministry of Flowers (Valley Press 2020), which takes its title from an Emily Dickinson poem and explores how flowers, real and metaphorical, can connect humans and provide their own kind of ministry--ministry needed more than ever as the world grapples with the Covid-19 pandemic and its eventual aftermath. After teaching for many years (primary school in the UK, at Collin College in Texas, and at the University of Illinois at Chicago after earning her PhD), Andrea lives in London where she works to capture the unexpected beauty of humanity and nature in words, paints, piano and photography.  Her work can be found in Stand Magazine, Acumen, Ambit, American Literary Review, Under the Radar, Translation Review, The Chronicle of Higher Education, among many others.
