Bio:

I'm currently living near ancient Roman ruins and hot springs in north Israel where I'm revising my first two novels and writing a third. I often post about this experience on facebook and on a blog on my site. My short stories, poetry and creative non-fiction have been nominated for Pushcarts and can be found in the Beloit Fiction Journal, Woven Tale Press Art and Literary Journal, VOX, Poetica, Manhattan Poetry Review, Milvia Street, O. Henry Festival Stories, So It Goes: the Kurt Vonnegut Memorial Library Journal (a novel excerpt will be coming out in November 2018), Blue Lake Review, Berkeley Daily Planet, San Francisco Chronicle, The Satirist, The Ilanot Review and elsewhere. I earned an MFA in Fiction from Columbia University and spent years teaching writing in inner city schools.

Several of my publications have been nominated for Pushcarts and I've been nominated for the G.E. Younger Writer Award. I was recently awarded an "Exceptional Artist" grant from the Israeli Ministry of Culture. Before this I won the New Voice Award, First Prize in Fiction from the Writers' Voice at the 63rd St. Y in NYC and I had an award-winning story included in an O. Henry Festival Stories Anthology. I've also won several awards for my editing and teaching, and I've won awards for my science fiction which appeared in a genre webzine. I'm the first student to have been accepted into both the fiction and poetry tracks of the Columbia University MFA Program and I attended with the support of a merit-based fellowship.
