Alden Jones's most recent book is the critical memoir The Wanting Was a Wilderness, a 2022 Lambda Literary Award finalist. Her previous books are the travel memoir The Blind Masseuse and the story collection Unaccompanied Minors. Her fiction, translations, and essays have appeared in magazines and journals including Agni, The Believer, the Iowa Review, Prairie Schooner, The Rumpus, Puerto del Sol, The Smart Set, Gulf Coast, Post Road, and the Best American Travel Writing. With fellow writer Tim Weed, she founded the Cuba Writers Program in 2016. Alden is Writer-in-Residence at Emerson College in Boston, and is also core faculty in the low-residency Newport MFA program at Salve Regina University.
