Bio:

Aimee Suzara is a poet, playwright and performer whose mission is to create, and help others create, work to provoke dialogue and social change. Her poetry book, SOUVENIR, has just been published (WordTech Editions). A member of PlayGround, her work has been staged at the Berkeley Repertory Theater, and her play, A HISTORY OF THE BODY, has been supported by the National Endowment for the Arts. Her poems appear in numerous journals and anthologies and she’s been a featured performer nationally, including the Utah Arts Festival and the University of Miami. She is a creative writing lecturer at CA State University Monterey Bay.
In SOUVENIR, the debut book by Aimee Suzara, a Filipino-American woman encounters narratives of her history – from the “living exhibits” at the 1904 World’s Fair to the migration of her family across seas and continents to the Wild West – considering what souvenirs are kept as histories are buried, found and reinvented.
