Two prizes of $5,000 each are given biennially for books of fiction and creative nonfiction published during the previous two years. The awards, cosponsored by the Stanford University Libraries and the William Saroyan Foundation, are "intended to encourage new or emerging writers and honor the Saroyan legacy of originality, vitality, and stylistic innovation." Writers who have published no more than four books are eligible. Submit five copies of a novel, a short story collection, or a work of creative nonfiction published between January 1, 2014, and December 31, 2015, with a $50 entry fee by January 29.
