A prize of $1,750, publication on the Brooklyn Caribbean Literary Festival (BCLF) website, and an invitation to participate in a BCLF podcast episode will be given annually for a work of fiction. The winner will also receive books from the Akashic Books catalogue and publication, as well as an interview, in the New York Carib News. Caribbean-descended writers, or writers of Caribbean heritage, whose work has not appeared in a nationally distributed publication with a circulation of 5,000 or more and who are residents of the U.S. or Canada are eligible to apply. Merle Collins, Fabienne Josaphat, and Vanessa Riley will judge. Using only the online submission system, submit a story of no more than 3,000 words from May 1 to July 1. There is no entry fee. Visit the website for complete guidelines.
