Editorial Focus
Sage Hill is not looking for any one thing. The books we have published represent a broad range of styles and voices. Above all we seek work that sings and attempts to transcend the limited context of the lyric speaker. The poems should be big, in voice or vision or style, but not be bombastic or clever. Make us want to keep reading. We believe beauty exists, and that poetry can and should embody beauty in any number of ways. We are also interested in beautiful books, and will make every effort to ensure the design of the book is as appealing as the poems.
Tips From the Editor
Read our about page to get an idea of what appeals to the editors. Don't try to be the cleverest or the smartest person. The poems should have purpose, and should give us a way into them, and something to do once we get there. We should be able to read the poems actively. Don’t send poems to which the reader is merely a spectator.
