Editorial Focus
Atelier26 is an independent press in Portland, Oregon that exists to demonstrate the powers and possibilities of literature through books that get people listening, talking, and exchanging ideas. Our newest release is FUNNY-ASS THOREAU, a collection of humor by the author of Walden. We published Margaret Malone's debut PEOPLE LIKE YOU, a 2016 PEN/Hemingway Award finalist, winner of the Balcones Fiction Prize, and named a best book of the year by Powell's Books. Appearing fall 2017: BIRD BOOK by poet Sidney Wade, and A THOUSAND DISTANT RADIOS by debut author Woody Skinner.
Tips From the Editor
We are a belles-lettres press with a staff of 2, funded out of pocket, by donations, and with the publisher’s share of the net profit proceeds from book sales. We publish 0-3 titles per year, but we welcome submissions of literary fiction and creative nonfiction through Submittable. We believe strongly in the value and potential of what others crassly call “slush,” and in order to keep our transom open, we rely on a nominal Open Transom Sustainability Fee. We offer writers the choice of ordering any one of our titles at a standing submitter's discount of 20% off as an alternative to the flat fee. Please note: We're currently averaging a 9 to 11-month response time. E-mail if you don't hear from us within that window.
