Assistant Professor of English - Technical/Professional Writing [1]
The Division of Communications, Humanities, and Human Services at Missouri Valley College, a private liberal arts college of approximately 1,400 students in Marshall, Missouri, invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track Assistant Professor of English (Technical/Professional Writing) to begin August 1, 2019.
The position’s 5/5 teaching load will consist primarily of courses in technical and professional writing, as well as composition courses. Additional teaching responsibilities may include courses in Modern Grammar, Linguistics, and Creative Writing. The position also requires service on campus committees and academic advising.
Required qualifications include a PhD in English with an emphasis in Technical Writing, Professional Writing, Rhetoric and Composition, or a closely related field. Applications from advanced ABD candidates with a dissertation defense scheduled for Spring 2019 are welcomed. Candidates able to teach Creative Writing are especially encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will have a demonstrable commitment to collegiality, professionalism, teaching excellence, and the College mission: “Guiding students to succeed through personal instruction and intellectual inquiry.” Familiarity with Google Apps for Education and Moodle preferred.
