You will work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, friendly, and challenging atmosphere. This busy, detailed role includes reviewing new sales model requests, analyzing existing sales and trends, and prospecting for new business. Sales, Virtual and In-Person Presentations, CRM Management, and Co-operative Advertising Management are core to the role. Specific responsibilities include:
- Acting as the primary contact for trade, resale (including digital), selected wholesale, and higher education accounts.
- Creating and conducting sales presentations.
- Fielding customer queries, including liaison work with our Credit and Customer Service departments.
- Heavy sales analysis; reporting key findings to senior staff.
- Generating new leads and assisting in department-wide initiatives.
- Keeping on top of industry trends and advocating new ideas.

The ability to analyze sales and cost data to make informed decisions is crucial, as is the ability to communicate effectively with other departments, authors, and vendors. Must be able to juggle multiple demands and deadlines, communicate work flow processes and concerns, negotiate, handle confidential material, and accommodate changing work demands. Strong computer skills--including MS Office suite’s Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access--are a must. Knowledge of Acumen and Edelweiss are a plus. A college degree is preferred as is 5 years scholarly publishing or other relevant experience. Travel is required.
