Assistant Learning Center Director - Language Arts [1]
Art of Problem Solving (AoPS, AoPS.com [2]) develops educational opportunities for many of the most eager math students in the world. We have trained tens of thousands of the country's top math students over the last 15 years through our textbook series and our online school. In 2016 we launched AoPS Academy (AoPSAcademy.org [3]), a family of after-school learning centers for strong math and language arts students in grades 2–12. We seek enterprising educators to lead our AoPS Academy campuses and to inspire the next generation of intellectual leaders.
We're seeking a talented Language Arts Assistant Director for our new Pleasanton, CA campus. This might be the right job for you if you understand what actors mean when they say, "I love acting, but what I really want to do is direct!" That's because you love teaching, but what you really want to do is run your own learning center. You're ready to do a bit of everything—teach language arts classes, hire and train teachers, work with parents to ensure their children's success, and whatever else comes your way.
Ideal candidate qualities:
You're a people person and enjoy interacting with both adults and children. You're also a language arts enthusiast with some teaching experience. Maybe you're an English teacher in middle school or high school. Or a skilled writer who finds teaching invigorating and rewarding. You have a degree in a humanities-related field, some experience dealing with parents, and enough experience running something that you understand what being in charge means. You also understand that this is a position where working hours include evenings and weekends.
How to apply:
To apply, send a resume and cover letter to jobs@aopsacademy.org [4] and tell us why you would be a good fit for this position. Please also include a sample of your writing, such as an essay, short story, or article.
