Bio:

Joseph Ellison Brockway is a poet, translator, and Spanish professor with a Ph.D. in Studies of Literature and Translation. He has translated poems from Las Mujeres No Hablan Asi (That's Not How Women Talk) by Pueto Rican poet Nemir Matos Cintron. He translated Isla cofre mítico (Island Mythical Coffer) by Spanish surrealist Eugenio Fernández Granell as part of his dissertation. [POETRY] Joseph’s poetic work experiments with language and ideas that explore the human psyche and existence. He is currently working on a manuscript that deals with identity, family, and depression after a recent DNA test revealed that the man he knew as his father is not his biological father. [LITERARY TRANSLATION] Joseph’s literary translation interests include surrealism, the subconscious, mental illness, 20th-century Latin American experimental poetry and short story, and 20th-century experimental Puerto Rican poetry.
