The Image Text MFA program focuses on the intersection of writing and image-making with an emphasis on photography. Students complete the program in twenty-five months.

Students attend three annual monthlong residencies during the summer in Ithaca, New York, and a weeklong residency during winter in a major city, such as London, Mexico City, and Los Angeles.

Visiting writers and faculty have included Claudia Rankine, Lucy Ives, John Keene, Tonya Foster, Danielle Dutton, Renee Gladman, Tisa Bryant, Rosa Alcalá, Verónica Gerber Bicecci, Anna Moschovakis, Emily Abendroth, C. S. Giscombe, Christine Hume, and Matvei Yankelevich.
