The program also offers coursework in genre fiction, young adult fiction, graphic novel writing, hybrid and experimental forms, nature writing, playwriting, screenwriting, travel writing, writing for television, and libretto.

Students attend two eight-day residencies each year, in February and July, at Fort Worden State Park in Port Townsend, Washington. Goddard College also offers a low-residency MFA program in Plainfield, Vermont, with residencies held in January and June.

The program hosts visiting authors and publishing professionals and the alumni-only Clockhouse Writers' Conference and Retreat. Other features include opportunities to work with the Vermont campus radio and online station WGDR.

The application fee is waived for materials submitted by the priority deadline.
