Detroit Book City is a small, independent bookstore that specializes in African American books, media, and events. They carry new and gently used adult and children books (i.e. self-help, Black-consciousness, spiritual, how to, urban fiction, memoirs, biographies, and more), and sell books written by local and national indie authors, as well as, rare, hard to find or out-of-print African American books.
Find details about every creative writing competition—including poetry contests, short story competitions, essay contests, awards for novels, grants for translators, and more—that we’ve published in the Grants & Awards section of Poets & Writers Magazine during the past year. We carefully review the practices and policies of each contest before including it in the Writing Contests database, the most trusted resource for legitimate writing contests available anywhere.
