Editorial Focus
The Sonder Review is a biannual print publication of short fiction, creative nonfiction and visual art based in New York. We believe in language. Words raw and shuddering and unabashed. Prose which is spare and piercing, delicately and deliberately crafted. We believe in storytelling that is innovative and daring, precise and oddly angled. Writing which shows us the bizarre but also, always, the resounding throb of humanity. We want fresh voices; words which must be heard. We believe incredibly strongly in our authors and take immense pride in bringing their vision to fruition.
Tips From the Editor
We want more than a simple narrative. We want prose which provokes and stirs us, which forces us to pause and take note. Pieces delicately and thoughtfully constructed. Language driven writing crafted with a precise hand; lines meant to be unpackaged; deft words and ringing voices. We want the everyday events, the quiet moments: the profound pulse of human experience. The peculiar, the off-angles and edges; the distinctive writing and unique voices which drive us.
