The Drum is a literary magazine with a twist. You don’t read the Drum. You listen to it. We publish short fiction, essays, and novel excerpts exclusively in audio form, read aloud by the author. The Drum is looking for work that pays close attention to language while never losing sight of the narrative drive. We want stories that really do tell a story. And essays that engage in the complexity of an idea.
Tips From the Editor
Starting in 2014, we will close submissions during the months of January, April, July, and October. Submissions are open at all other times, and we aim to respond extremely promptly.
