Editorial Focus

Gutter is an award-winning, high quality, printed journal for fiction and poetry from writers born, living in, or somehow connected to Scotland, though the writing in Gutter spans the globe. The editors believe there is a need for an energetic, ambitious magazine dedicated to the best in new Scottish creative writing. With an international and progressive outlook, Gutter prides itself on being an inclusive, welcoming magazine for all.

Tips From the Editor

Preference will be given to provocative work that challenges, re-imagines or undermines the individual or collective status quo. We are also interested in work that relates Scotland to an international context. All work must be previously unpublished in print on online. Submissions totalling more than 3,500 words of prose or 120 lines of poetry will not be read.
