Leonard Kress grew up in Philadelphia. He studied at Temple University (religion), Columbia University (Creative Writing), and the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland (Polish literature and folklore.) Kress is a poet, fiction writer, and translator and has published seven poetry collections, most recently Living in the Candy Store and Other Poems, The Orpheus Complex, Braids & Other Sestinas, and Living in the Candy Store. He has completed a verse translation of the 19th century Polish Romantic epic, Pan Tadeusz by Adam Mickiewicz as well as the work of Jan Kochanowski, Szymon Zimorowic, and Cyprian Norwid. Kress lives in Perrysburg, Ohio and teaches religion, philosophy, and creative writing at Owens College in Ohio.
