Beyond Baroque and Todos Santos Writers Workshop presents Con Garro y Sin Paz. Author Marcela Magdaleno Deschamps will read from her novel accompanied with photographs and letters chronicling the memories of Paz Garro during her final days at her home in Cuernavaca, Mexico.
She will be joined in conversation by Dr. Maricela Becerra García (Professor at CSU Channel Islands), a scholar of Mexican cultural movements, state violence, and the (post)memories of Mexico ’68. Together, they will explore images, documents, and archival materials that illuminate the intertwined literary, political, and personal histories of the Garro–Paz family throughout the twentieth century.
