Is this the year you finish your first draft? Or put that final polish on your memoir before publishing? Whether you’re working on your final draft or starting your first page, this inclusive R&C group will provide the support, education, and inspiration to help you meet your memoir writing goals. The focus will be on read and critique in a group setting allowing writers the opportunity to share their work in a structured and supportive environment. Writing can be a solitary endeavor, and nothing nurtures the soul—or inspires the muse—more than being in a community of fellow memoirists. These sessions will balance constructive, encouraging critique with insights on the craft and business of memoir writing. The group meets three times a month (leaving you free to attend the San Diego Memoir Writers Association meetings on the first Saturdays of the month). This is the perfect next step after finishing SDWI’s Certificate in Memoir Writing or if you’ve been looking for a nurturing community of fellow memoir writers.
Find details about every creative writing competition—including poetry contests, short story competitions, essay contests, awards for novels, grants for translators, and more—that we’ve published in the Grants & Awards section of Poets & Writers Magazine during the past year. We carefully review the practices and policies of each contest before including it in the Writing Contests database, the most trusted resource for legitimate writing contests available anywhere.
