New College of Florida announces an opening for a Writer in Residence, Fall 2020–Spring 2021 (August–December and February–May). The designated Honors College of the State University System, New College of Florida is a small, highly selective, residential liberal arts institution. We are especially interested this year in applicants with expertise in electronic literature and/or translation.
The successful candidate will have: at least one published book or publications equivalent to a published book, and significant publication in other venues as well; two years’ experience teaching creative writing, which can include instruction as a graduate student; and a strong commitment to playing an active role in our college community. MFA, MA, or PhD degree preferred. Writers whose work engages multicultural experience especially encouraged. The Writer in Residence will be responsible for designing and teaching two semester-length writing courses per term (four total) and will give at least two public readings. We are particularly interested in candidates who can teach courses that are 1) cross-genre 2) bilingual and/or 3) focus on electronic literature. Salary is $44,450 at .69 FTE, with no benefits.
