Middlebury College

Visiting Assistant Professor of English

The Department of English and American Literatures at Middlebury College invites applications for a part-time three-year position in Creative Writing beginning in Fall 2018. The successful candidate will join a thriving undergraduate Creative Writing program at a liberal arts college that has long been committed to promoting creative writing, hosting the Bread Loaf Writers' Conference and The New England Review. Responsibilities will include teaching fiction and/or non-fiction workshops, as well as literature courses, along with advising senior thesis students and other forms of college service. The faculty member appointed will teach two courses per year and a one-month long January term course every other year. The contract may be renewable upon administrative approval.

Applicants must hold an MFA or PhD in Creative Writing or closely related field by the date of appointment, and must have one book of fiction or creative non-fiction published or under contract. We are particularly interested in applicants with a secondary interest in one (or more) of the following fields: post-colonial and global literature in English, ethnic and minority literatures, and environmental studies. Candidates should provide evidence of commitment to excellent teaching and scholarly potential. Our department is committed to building a diverse and inclusive educational environment. We especially welcome applications from members of groups traditionally underrepresented in the field.
