University Lecturer

The College Writing Programs at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary instructors to teach courses in the College Writing Programs should an opening arise. Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as needed. The number of positions varies from semester to semester depending on the needs of the department.

Position titles: Lecturer, Lecturer in Summer Sessions.

Job duties: Successful applicants will teach in CWP’s Reading and Composition sequence or other CWP courses in writing, reading, and oral communication. They will have complete responsibility for classes to include teaching in a classroom environment, meeting with students during scheduled weekly office hours and by appointment, and grading student work.

Foreign applicants must also have permission to work in the U.S. by start date.

UC lecturers are academic appointees and are represented by an exclusive bargaining agent, University Council – American Federation of Teachers (UC-AFT). This position is covered by the collective bargaining agreement of the UC-AFT.
