Senior Lecturer/Lecturer in English Composition and Literature

The University of Texas Permian Basin seeks a generalist in English Composition and Literature Survey courses. In addition, preference may be given to candidates who have a demonstrated ability to teach either Drama or Spanish – or both. The appointment will begin in Fall 2020. Positions are one-year appointments with opportunity for renewal. The normal teaching load for a Lecturer is 5/5, or five three-hour courses in each of the Fall and Spring semesters. This position is dedicated to pedagogy and service. The instructor will teach Freshman Composition and Sophomore Literature surveys, face-to-face and on-line, including dual-enrollment students. The instructor may also be asked to provide instruction for upper-level courses as needed in Drama and/or Spanish, in her or his area of specialty.

Requirements: A PhD or ABD is required with at least 18 graduate-level hours in English. This appointment is contingent upon completion of the PhD by August 2020.  Qualified candidates are those with degrees in Literature, Comparative Literature, Drama, Education, or Linguistics.

Preferred: Candidates with experience or interest in teaching, research, dual credit students, and on-line instruction are preferred.
