Blackburn College, a private liberal-arts college with a student-managed work program located in Carlinville, Illinois, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Professor of English, with primary duties teaching First Year Writing and overseeing the First Year Experience program.
The final candidate will be joining the Blackburn community at an exciting time of growth and change, with a new president who is enthusiastic about strengthening student success, particularly in conjunction with First Year Writing and First Year Experience. Therefore, candidates must be passionate about working with first year students and diverse populations.
Required qualifications include a PhD in Composition/Rhetoric or English, demonstrated excellence in teaching First-Year Writing, and commitment to working with first year populations with diverse levels of preparation and engagement. Experience working in peer-tutor writing centers and/or First Year Experience programs is preferred.
