805 Lit + Art

Production and Design Editor (Volunteer)

805 seeks a remote Volunteer Editor to spruce up our website, layout issues, and create social media graphics during 2019. Students and recent grads from anywhere in the world are encouraged to apply. The Editor will hold a one-year position and be responsible for laying out 4–6 issues, creating up to 12 social media graphics, and updating the website with input from the rest of the editorial team. Experience with Wix, SEO, and a love of literary journals is desired. Though we are not able to offer a stipend, we can provide a glowing letter of recommendation, your name on our masthead, and year-long access to Lynda.com.

Applications will be reviewed when received and submissions will close early if we find the right candidate before the deadline.

805 Lit + Art is an online literary journal published by the Manatee County Public Library on the West Coast of Florida. 805 features debut and emerging writers, poets, and artists worldwide. A team of librarians, writers, college students, and professors curate quarterly issues and nominate our contributors to literary awards and prizes. Our mission at 805 is to connect readers to a diverse array of art, poetry, short fiction, creative nonfiction, and graphic fiction. We publish contemporary writing with a dash of experimental writing. 805 won the 2018 Florida Library Association Innovation Award, and a short story published by 805—“Little Birch Tree” by Courtney Prather—was a finalist for the Best of the Net Anthology 2017. We’ve been featured in Poets & Writers Magazine as one of “Nine New Lit Mags You Need to Read” and reviewed by The Review Review.
