Marketing Manager

Mascot Books is a publishing company dedicated to helping authors professionally bring their content to market. With comprehensive in-house book production, distribution, and marketing services, our authors have the support of an experienced publishing team. We’re currently looking for a marketing manager who has a passion for books to join our growing team! 


Responsibilities: 

  • Work collaboratively to develop and execute book marketing plans for titles across all genres
  • Draft pitches, wire-ready press releases, and electronic press kits for media outreach
  • Write website and social media copy for author platforms and upcoming new releases
  • Interface directly with authors and provide regular updates on marketing engagements
  • Assist with corporate content marketing, including executing marketing outreach on behalf of company; generating original, industry-based blog and social media content; and utilizing quarterly newsletter and catalog of select titles to increase awareness of company
  • Research and maintain a database of media, events, and review outlets for team use
  • Complete outreach on behalf of authors in support of the release of their books
  • Strategize with full internal marketing team and other departments on corporate marketing initiatives and pitches


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, English, or related field required
  • Excellent copywriting and editing skills
  • 2–5 years of client management/relations experience preferred
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent time management
  • Clear, confident, and professional communication via phone and e-mail
  • Ability to learn quickly and work both independently and collaboratively 
  • Creative idea-generation and problem-solving abilities
  • Familiarity and activity on social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn
  • Proficiency with Excel, Word, Microsoft Office Suite, and online cloud tools (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.)
  • Trade publishing experience is a plus, but not required

This position is full-time and offers paid time off, health, dental, vision, and 401k, as well as the opportunity for career advancement. Candidates must live in the DMV and have reliable transportation (no metro access).
