Calling all arts lovers and shelf-aware bibliophiles! Symphony Space is currently accepting applications from NYC-area college and university students for a hybrid internship in our Literature Department, beginning this September and ending May 2023, with the possibility of a shorter fall internship from September to December. The Literature Intern goes behind the curtain of live event management to work closely alongside producers on all events, including Selected Shorts: Let Us Tell You A Story, a 10-program series featuring live readings of fantastic fiction by acclaimed actors; the Selected Shorts radio show and podcast, a 52-week series broadcast on public radio stations nationwide; Thalia Book Club, a series that brings authors into conversation with audiences about classic and contemporary fiction; Special Literary events, unique programs spotlighting high-profile literary releases; and Uptown Showdown, a comedydebate series. The Literature Intern works directly with authors and artists, reads and recommends short fiction, attends department meetings, and participates in day-to-day operations. It's a front row seat to the department's entire suite of programming, and we'd love to have you on our team!
10-20 hours per week, plus select events. This is a hybrid position with required in-person hours for events and some office work. Interns will receive a weekly schedule to confirm their hours.
$75 stipend per week
Must be available to attend literary events on select Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. Please e-mail your resume and cover letter including area of interest to: internship@symphonyspace.org
