Lecturer

The Department of English at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, anticipates a limited number of full-time, non-tenure-track 9-month Lecturer positions to teach business and technical writing and first-year composition courses during the 2023-2024 academic year, with the possibility of teaching creative writing and/or literary studies in future years to meet departmental needs. There is also an opportunity to teach in Haining, China, through a partnership with the Zhejiang University-University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Institute (ZJUI). These positions are one-year appointments and covered by a collective bargaining agreement; renewal of the position is possible and contingent on availability of funding, strong enrollments, and strong performance reviews. 

Responsibilities include teaching three classes per semester. 

All candidates are required to have a PhD degree in English (or other relevant field) or an MFA in Creative Writing, plus a minimum of two years' teaching experience at the college level. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate excellence in teaching writing at the college level.
