Northfield Mount Hermon School

Lamplighter (summer 2022) Writing Institute Workshop Leader/Assistant Leader

The Lamplighter Writing Institute: Employment Opportunities

Workshop Leaders (Lead Faculty)

Northfield Mount Hermon’s Lamplighter Writing Institute seeks experienced educators and writers to serve in the role of Workshop Leader in EITHER its in-person OR its online program for two weeks in July 2022. The Institute is for young writers (entering) grades 7 to 12. Workshop Leaders will design a course of study, provide instruction, and mentorship to a group of twenty (or fewer) young writers in ONE of the following areas: fiction, poetry, narrative nonfiction, play/screenwriting, or journalism with the help of a Workshop Assistant Leader. Students attending the in-person Institute will be separated by grade, while those in online courses may not.* Applicants should demonstrate a desire to serve as a role model for young people, a dedication to their art, and experience in equity and inclusion work. Applicants must be willing to contribute to overall needs of the Institute, including but not limited to dorm and evening supervision, giving or assisting with evening readings and the speaker series, and participating in the lives of our workshop participants outside of the classroom. Teaching experience and a record of publication is strongly preferred. College-aged assistant workshop leaders will assist with instruction and feedback, so a desire to mentor a young instructor is a plus. A competitive salary, housing, and meals will be provided.
