Jenks Chair in Contemporary American Letters

GENERAL INFORMATION

The College of the Holy Cross invites applications for its Jenks Chair in Contemporary American Letters to begin August 2021. Candidates should be dedicated teachers and creative writers with a distinguished publication record in any genre whose work explores issues of race, racism, and Latinx, African American, Native American and Indigenous, and/or Asian American expressive cultures. Although the Jenks Chair is located in the Department of English, we welcome candidates whose work extends across disciplines.

Each year the Jenks Chair teaches three undergraduate seminars in creative writing, sponsors two public lectures or readings, and conducts a seminar for faculty from across the College. Programming funds and discretionary funds for professional development are available. The initial two- or three-year appointment may be renewed for up to a maximum of five years. Salary and benefits are at the level of a full professor and are competitive with comparable appointments nationwide. The Jenks Chair is eligible for reimbursement of relocation costs within the College’s published policies.
